One of the main strengths of the Rites of Passage programme is our ability to customize the programme content to the specific needs of the participants. Session activities are spread over a time period and designed around the eight modules with practical focus areas. Specific contents and focus will be determined after a need analysis has been completed. A session might focus on roles and responsibilities of being an adult, the power of words; another session might focus on image and awareness with exercises on personal introductions, character reading and perceptions through role-playing.
The next twenty years will be very critical for the nation and the African continent on every front of development. We are confronted by a fast paced, out of control environment of business disruption driven by technology and lifestyle changes. How do young people in Nigeria cope with the spate of disruption within an environment fraught with uncertainty, lack of opportunities and despair? Many youths make career choices based entirely on inadequate information or second guesses on how the economy works. Others mindlessly plunge into the rat race labyrinth for survival and wound up frustrated with the quality of lives they lead.
In the absence of safety nets that provide immediate support for young people who have been cultured and socialized in such depressed economies and challenging environments, these youths are at risk of shrinking their perspectives to accommodate their realities and thus compromise their true capacity to astound the world. The good news is that preparing for the future doesn't have to be rigorously grueling. Nor is it rocket science. A simple evidence based system that allows young people to mind map the future and deliberately build skills that empower them to dominate high skills and high wage global industries of the future is what the RITE OF PASSAGE is about. The Agenda2040's Rites of Passage programme confronts this reality through a multi-layered approach that presents Nigerian teenagers a clear and sure path to adulthood and industry readiness.
We carry out an extensive tracking programme to keep tab on the progress of every participant of this programme. Each participant is assigned a mentor to coach him through the program. Industry professionals and leaders in the A2040 community facilitate the series of interactive workshops.
* Promote critical thinking and problem solving through assigned projects and industry engagement, individual research projects and interactive class sessions. * Provide opportunities for youth expression and public speaking via required multimedia presentations of individual projects and building leadership skills for future effectiveness *Enable young people to mind map the future and strategise around building skills that will be in demands in the near future. *Increase awareness of careers through local company tours and presentations from local professionals.
There are ongoing feedback tools that provide indicators about the effectiveness of the programme. _ A personal folder is maintained on each participant to track attendance, attitude, teamwork, drive and participation in projects, as well as special talents and skills exhibited. This is monitored at the beginning, during and at the end of programme. Members are signed up on the TRACK THE GENIUS PROGRAMME
